Many of us spend our short time on earth caring for everyone around us while neglecting our own wellbeing. The Release workshop is a safe, private space* to talk about and process the hard things. You are not alone in your experiences and deserve a space to be heard and held. You deserve rest. You deserve healing.  Through sacred space and communal care, we invite you to release your pain and reclaim your Self.

Together we will use guided meditation, processing exercises, and self-reflection to explore the connections between our past experiences and how we engage with others.  On the final day, we will release the past through a cleansing and heart-opening cacao ceremony guided by ancestral healer & traditional rootworker, Elan Bridges.

Before the days of organized health systems, Black Southerners had a tradition of natural medicines and preventative treatments made from native herbs and plants.  Those practices diminished as our families migrated North, but never completely disappeared.  Some chose to reclaim our traditional healing practices, creating a revival of using natural medicines for common ailments.

Participants will learn the natural remedies and preventative measures handed down from our foremothers.  This course will cover traditional herbalism with an emphasis on Gullah Geechee preparations, natural healing as an ancestral practice, and how to incorporate those principles into our modern lives.  The hands-on course will include ingredients and instructions to create your own natural preventative tonic for the fall and winter months. Happy Hoodoo Heritage Month!
